This past week while on vacation I had every intention on painting a picture. I arranged the perfect set up by the beach. My paints and brushes, glass of wine and good music. I sat and contemplated as to what to create. I even went as far as asking my Facebook family for suggestions. While they were wonderful, I did end up leaving my week’s vacation with a white canvas in tow.
The evening I got home from vacation, my friend Rich called to touch base about a Color Run we were running in the next morning. As we were chatting he asked what I ended up painting while away. I mentioned that I came home with a blank canvas. He suggested bringing it to the Color Run. What an idea.
The next day I ran my 5K with a canvas in hand. It was truthfully the most fun run I ever had in my lifetime, and the canvas was a huge hit.
While it’s not the canvas image I envisioned, I do know that sometimes you can prepare all you want for the perfect plan, but things may not go your way. Consider that many times the most beautiful (and colorful) things happen when you embrace plan B.

Next week I am trading in my computer mouse for a set of paint brushes. They will not be determined by pixel width, but by the amount of mink at the end of a stick. I’m trading in my computer screen for a canvas, and a titanium MacBook Pro for Titanium White paint. Acrobat will be a cartwheel on the beach. An attachment will be hugging my daughters. I’ll focus, not only through the lens of my camera, but on the people that are so important to me. I’ll run so that I may live harder and breathe deeper. I’ll fly my kite and our Nation’s flag to enjoy life fuller.
An adventure sets us free and helps us see things a little clearer when we return. I’ll be back on the 9th of July with a fresh set of eyes and ideas. Until then, here’s hoping you can get out on a little adventure this summer too.

It was a wonderful day here at the studio. We hope yours was lovely too. Happy Tuesday sweet Silverbox followers. Thanks for taking the time to stop in and visit.
Here’s an oh-so-easy little craft to keep those kiddos busy a few days before vacation. A wrapped t-shirt with some fabric paint.

This is what summer looks like in my back yard. I hope you’re enjoying yours too. Remember to relax, kick off your shoes and take time for yourself. It’s so important.
Hip, hip hooray! Another new logo + blog design = another client to our Silverbox family. Congrats Danielle on your new look! So go ahead on over and take a look at dmphotos and let her know what you think. Tell her Silverbox sent you. :)

To my Dad, that reads my blog every day. Thanks Dad. I love you.

Being an artist, I know some of my older relatives think I go to work and draw everyday. I just know they do. Rest-assured, I’m drawing today. Custom scroll work for a logo design with my Wacom tablet. So if you see my grandmother, tell her I had a good day at work. :)
This image may not look “Silverbox”, but it’s so close to my heart. It was posted on Facebook by my long-distance daughter Emma. I took a look the photo and thought she couldn’t have combined these photos. I looked closer. Hmm. I asked for clarification. It was in fact done by her. You may not see what I do, but I’m blown away by the masking in Photoshop, the lighting, the drop shadow, etc. When did she learn how to do this herself? A few days ago Emma was in Guatemala studying apparel design and today she’s in NYC starting an eight week internship. She combined both experiences in such a beautiful way and thought she deserved the Silverbox blog limelight today. Way to go kiddo!

There really are no words to describe our amazing evening. There are pictures though. :)

So excited! Heading out this evening to meet Gavin DeGraw. Any Gavin fans out there? Thought I’d design a quick poster to take along to see if he’ll sign it. Not sure of the chances, but we’ll see how it goes. Happy Tuesday!

I can’t believe this guy is one already! Happiest Birthday Wishes little H!

There’s nothing like doing a graduation announcement from your alma mater. This lovely client requested something unique. A standard announcement wasn’t going to do. She wanted to reflect her daughter’s sassy personality, and actually surprised her with the announcements. How fun!
If designing for someone from home wasn’t personal enough, the fellow that designed the seal art was one of my favorite and very talented classmates from 1989. My first school crush, and the first boy I ever kissed. Ok, so I just embarrassed him. Sorry Seth. See, we’re still a great team this many years later.
All the best to you Sarah in your future endeavors! We’re so happy you liked your announcements! Congratulations Tamaqua Area Class of 2012!
