dream of weaving

This image may not look "Silverbox", but it's so close to my heart. It was posted on Facebook by my long-distance daughter Emma. I took a look the photo and thought she couldn't have combined these photos. I looked closer. Hmm. I asked for clarification. It was in fact done by her. You may not see what I do, but I'm blown away by the masking in Photoshop, the lighting, the drop shadow, etc. When did she learn how to do this herself? A few days ago Emma was in Guatemala studying apparel design and today she's in NYC starting an eight week internship. She combined both experiences in such a beautiful way and thought she deserved the Silverbox blog limelight today. Way to go kiddo!

style statement

First page of a book I just purchased entitled Style Statement. Oh yeah, this is going to be good. Thank you Melissa for informing me about this lovely read. We are woman entrepreneurs. A designer and a writer, an athlete and an artist. One of us wears pearls, the other wears dreadlocks. Different styles, shared values.

We think big. We do our homework. We'd choose love over logic any day. We love a good deal.

We have branded companies and rallied causes; designed websites and books and business plans. We have style homes and style people, and what we know for sure is that style is a language.

We help people to articulate. We inspire authenticity. We see possibility everywhere.

happy may day

I think of this painting every 1st of May. It's entitled Snow Hill by Andrew Wyeth and hangs so beautifully in the Brandywine River Museum. It's truthfully one of my favorites of all time. I was hesitant to post this today due to the fact that it doesn't do the painting any justice, then decided to use it in order to give thanks to dear ole' Andrew for the inspiration you've provided to so many over the years.
