slow down
/Just back from a nice long weekend with girlfriends and some sand in the toes. Life is much too precious to not slow down once in a while. Make some time for yourself once in a while...I dare you.
I'm making it a little personal today. My daughter's coming home for spring break this afternoon and it has been such a bitter sweet sort of week. Enjoy your kiddos every moment they're here. To all of you that have a child in college, or are leaving soon...I recently met a gal that mentioned she texted her college daughter every night before she went to bed. She said, "Just a simple good night is all that's needed." She mentioned, you never know what you'll get. Some nights it a simple, "You, too Mom" and other nights could be much more. I took this advice about two weeks ago after meeting this new friend, and it's been such a nice way to end the day. The joys of technology, I'll will utilize for love.
Everyone tells you they grow up so fast. You hear it all the time. Heed their words. They're so real. I remember taking this photo of my daughter at age three like it was yesterday. In the blink of an eye it's fifteen years later.
Time will never stand still and those moments that bring us such joy become memories in an instant. To capture such a moment and record it forever is truly monumental. ~Joshua Atticks
We thank our lucky stars for you every day.
Facts about Let it Be
~ the Beatles
Paul McCartney wrote this song. It was inspired by his mother, Mary, who died when he was 14. Many people thought "Mother Mary" was a biblical reference when they heard it.
McCartney had a dream one night when he was paranoid and anxious. He saw his mom who had been dead for ten years or so; she came to him in his time of trouble, speaking words of wisdom. This brought him much peace when he needed it. It was this sweet dream that got him to begin writing the song.
In 2001, McCartney helped organize the "Concert For New York," to benefit victims of The World Trade Center disaster. He closed the show with this, inviting the other acts and some New York cops and firefighters on stage to sing with him.
Sesame Street used this with the title changed to "Letter B." The lyrics were changed to list words that begin with B.
The album had the largest initial sales in US record history up to that time: 3.7 million advance orders.
You'll hear different guitar parts on different versions on this song, as there were several overdubs of the solo. On April 30, 1969, George Harrison overdubbed a new guitar solo over the best take from the January 31, 1969 session. Harrison overdubbed another one on January 4, 1970, but there's a possibility that it was actually McCartney on that overdub. The first overdub solo was used for the original single release, and the second overdub solo was used for the original album release. The Let It Be... Naked version is the one from the movie.
This was the first Beatles song released in The Soviet Union. The single made it there in 1972.
I dedicate today's post to our small business clients that work so diligently at building their businesses. Silverbox has been blessed with a growing family of small business clientele. We've grown in leaps and bounds in this area over the past year and cannot thank you enough for passing on a good word.
While we work hard on making sure your brand stands out from the rest, make no mistake about it, the best form of advertising is the quality of your work and/or product. I came across this Milton Hershey quote and of course had to create a design and wrap it around a large Hershey bar. It's now sitting on a silver easel in the studio as a small reminder of what's important.
When looking a little deeper into some additional quotes from Hershey, I found there weren't too many. A previous Hershey employee mentioned, “Milton was not a philosopher, but a doer.” I'm not sure if it's from my upbringing, but those are words I live by. Yes, while we are in the business to make you look good on the outside, rest-assured it's the quality inside that matters even more.
So, here's a little chocolate Valentine treat for all those small businesses giving 110% every day. Go get yourself a large Hershey bar and wrap this printable label around it, so it can be placed where you can see it everyday to remind you where a good business starts.
Thank you once again for all that you are to Silverbox everyday.
Due to all our snow, I thought this was worth the re-post from last year.
This year I've included a free printable! Enjoy!
Oh what fun to assemble little gift bags of hot chocolate and deliver to everyone in the neighborhood. I simply placed them on their front door handle and enjoyed a peaceful walk down the street. It’s amazing how a blanket of snow quiets everything. I truthfully couldn’t ask for better neighbors. Wishing you a warm night with a cup of hot cocoa and good company.
We are oh-so passionate about what we do, and believe in the tiniest of details. We think of ourselves as storytellers, and are here to showcase you in the best light possible. Silverbox has been serving social and business clientele for over 18 years. Whether you’re in need of a logo, big event, holiday card, photography session, etc... we have got you covered.
